I haven't ever really sat back and reflected on the meaning of veteran's day, until now. I was thinking of the time Joel spent in Iraq defending our freedom and enduring the challenges he did. Their tasks were not easy, and they came across the "enemy" frequently via road side bombs, but their service has made a big difference to our country. People today seem to have forgotten the reasons why we, as a country, embarked on another war...but it just shows how soon they are to forget what happened to us. We have to fight for our freedom! Freedom, although it seems like it is, isn't free. Sacrifices are made in our behalf for the life we are given today. I am so grateful for the service men and women everywhere who have, selflessly, given of their lives and time to stand up for our country and to defend it. I am proud to say that I am married to a veteran who served our country in hard times. Yes, we both had to sacrifice, but those who love the country, serve the country! God Bless America and those who are fighting for our freedoms!

Well said Lila. It's so important that we stop and remember those that make our freedom possible. Thanks to you, Joel, and so many others who sacrifice so much. Happy Veteran's Day!!
Thanks Joel. You're amazing!
Hi Lila!
Thanks for commenting and sharing your blog. I think its great that you and Ian have got to reconnect, thats always fun to get to know people all over again and see how they are doing.
Your veterans day entry is really neat and scary too...Its hard for Ian to be gone (this is our 2nd deployment so this one IS a little easier) but when I think about how hard some other families have it, like Joel being away for a year and half, It helps me to realize that we can definetly get through it and be ok.
Thanks again for writing me, I hope you'll keep checking the blog and I'll check back too :o)
