Blog-Cation?

Would you believe me if I decided that i needed a little time away from the blogging world for the sake of needing to take a break? Well, you are probably right when you are thinking that that is just an excuse and the truth behind it all is that I am lazy...

Actually, life just hasn't been very blog worthy lately. Boring, slow, never-changing...yep, that is life! Alright, let's get down to business...my last "real post" was on February 23rd-ish(?). Well since then, I have overcome my extreme illness, as has Calvin. Joel has returned from his 2 week adventure in Bloomington (and by adventure I mean, schooling, random roadtrips and crazy hotel workers chatting on the computer at 1:00am in the morning---but for those stories, you have to ask Joel really).

After I started feeling better, I decided that I had to get out of this tiny town of loneliness and despare and hit the road to visit Angela and Aaron! We had a great, but too short, of a visit! We ate at PF Changs (which i could eat at everyday of the week!),
This of course is everyone's dessert dream! YUMM YUMM
watched a RedBox Flick, and stayed up way too late! I was so excited that I got to spend time with them since I came down on a Wednesday and left the very next day! Thursday I had to make a stop at Best Buy and drop off my camera...I know, so sad! Well, if you haven't noticed, my pictures have been lacking lately, that is because in january my main lense broke and I have had to wait to go to Utah to use the warrenty I have on my camera to get it fixed. Hopefully in a few weeks it will be all better and I will be able to get back into the swing of things with an AMAZING photoshoot I am planning with Calvin!

Little did I realize that those two days I chose to go on a little road trip alone, a nice big snow storm was suppose to make it's way through Utah and Wyoming. Yeah yeah yeah, I looked at weather.com, but seriously if I had known it was gonna be that bad, Iwouldn't have gone. Once I got on the road to head home, things were looking good...there was A LOT of snow around, but the roads were clear and just wet, even through the pass into Wyoming.......BUT THEN........

Crazy, slippery, snowpiled snow on the roads. Driving 10 mph praying that my car, blue steel, could handle the steep roads. All was good and well, sort of, until traffic came to a hault on what happened to be one of the steeper hills that you come to when going through Evenston. I was terrified, really! Driving in this type of snow is somewhat new to me, and having serious anxiety when it comes to cars and driving didn't help any! After waiting 20 minutes for the freeway to open again, it probably took me at least that long to get blue steel up that hill...UGH...it was awful! Once I found an exit that had a nice place to stop and eat, I pulled off, gathered my sanity, feed my screaming baby, and then got back on the road and finished my drive home (which was clear and beautiful after about 10 miles
This is a quick shot I took while I was in a stand still..

Okay. So that was an adventure.

Saturday I went to the final class for our foster care training. I am excited and nervous to be taking on this new duty in our lives, but I know it is what we should be doing, and I am ready to give a baby part of our lives for however long it may be. The most common question I think I get when people hear that we are going to be doing fostering is, "are you crazy?!" They ask that because we are not planning on taking any children that are older than Calvin, so that limits us to newborn-7months. We will see if I loose all sense of time and direction when I am takleing two babies, but I am not worried!

Calvin is a monster, weighing in at and probably a little over 23lbs. He is very mobile now, and as of TODAY can offically crawl (yes, the right way of crawling on hands and feet) BACKWARDS. I think he gets confused be sometimes he cries when he wants to move forward, but he just hasn't figured out how to get those legs going in that direction yet. We are baby-proofing like crazy (post to soon follow) and we are always busy watching Calvin as he explores new territory around the house. No, he doesn't sleep through the night yet, yes I am trying to do what I can to help him, and yes, I could sleep for a week and never feel guilty about it. LOL In other news regarding our little love bug, I have offically packed all his 6th month clothes and pulled out the 12 month ones. He doesn't really fit into the 12 month outfits yet, but I don't have very many 9 month outfits, and they are really hard to come by around here...so we are going to settle for what we can and get er' done! the good news is that i have some super cute clothes for him to wear, the bad news is that I think by his first birthday, he will definitely be in 18 month clothing, which means I need to start shopping now! For all those relatives out there (wink wink - Nanna & Gammie) feel free to buy any clearence items for fall that are coming available. I would recommend 24 month-3T outfits! :o)

Our Weekend Visit to the Burg

Everyone whose hands are raised are direct decendents of the Strasser line...the rest of them, well either wanna-bes or Strassers by default.

This last weekend we made the five hour drive to good ol' Rexburg, Idaho. We were very excited because we got to see our dearest friends (and stay at their newly built house) who we haven't seen in two years. We also took advantage of the fact that Marnie, Levi & Cali were also in town and had them (including a lot of other Strassers) watch Calvin while we went to the temple Saturday morning. It was so beautiful. After we spent the morning there, Joel and I went with Matt and Shannon and ate at the Backyard and then did their family photos. It was a lot of fun. Following the photo session, we went home for a second, got a few geocaches written down and pick them up on our way to THE FIRST ANNUAL STRASSER SHINDIG. There are a lot of Strassers and affeliates that attend BYU-Idaho, and we are friends with all of em' so we decided that we needed to have a get together at Big Juds (this is a hamburger joint outside of town that sales the biggest juciest burgers ever!). We had a great time there as well...we had 18 or 19 total and partied Strasser style. After that, we ran a few errons, and then Joel and a few others went and had a ball of their own while Shannon and I stayed home and I introduced her to the wonders of Facebook! (haha, you are welcome Shannon!)

Sunday one of our friends blessed their baby, and we just happened to be in Rexburg to go. That was fun. After that, we hit the road. On our way out of town and towards home we picked up a few geocaches, passing the 1500 mark! Way to go Us (which by us I really mean Joel). LOL Afer a long drive home, we were back safe and sound with no crazy snow storms or anything like that to return home to.

Who knows when we will get to go party there again, but the way I see it is that it is everyone's turn in Rexburg to come visit us....so there!

Our next big trip is Thanksgiving time when we will be traveling to Sandy, Utah to spend a few days with my family. That should be fun.

The way we see it, Calvin is never too young to start preparing to do the Big Jud Challenge! Mind over matter!

Joel getting our 1500th find & a quick stop to check on our old party shack...still looks good!
