The News, The News, You want to hear the news!?

Sorry it has been a few days since I have written. There is so much to talk about, it is crazy! I would like to first give a shout out to GUH for keeping me on tabs and reminding me that I should post....she leaves a comment almost everyday, which is a great motivator for me to sit down and take a minute to update this sucka! So, THANKS GIRL!!

Here is what went down Friday. First off, people suck at communicating in this town. You would think with such a small town everything would be in order and people would be on top of schedule changes....umm no! This town sucks so much when it comes to that. It may not be the town so much as the people, IDK but it is so frustrating! We went to the courthouse at 9 expecting to have a case, but an hour later found out that the hearing was moved to 2. HOW ANNOYING. It wouldn't have been soo bad if Joel would have had the day off, but instead he burned hours for nothing. UGH Anyway, court came and went. The judge processed the reliquish papers and things were sent into motion. After the hearing there was a "goodbye" visit with the mom and the children. It was suppose to be from 3-4, supervised and hunky-dory...except that when I arrived at the visit location to drop off Pretty Princess, the caseworker was no where to be seen. It is so uncomfortable being around PP's birthparents. It is soooo uncomfortable. But, I couldn't just walk away and drive off because they saw me pull up, get out of the car and then stand there waiting for a few minutes. GERR!! Anyway, I musceled through a 45 minute visit as they said "goodbye" to PP. It was so uncomfortable..did I mention that already? The mom in tears, saying things like "i am a good mother" "please don't tell her anything about my past and the situation that lead to this" "I wanted to keep her, but since she calls you Mom already it wasn't fair to her.." (newsflash, you wouldn't have gotten her anyway lady...sorry to say, but the state was going to terminate your rights as her parent, remember?!?!!) SO after 45 minutes of that, the caseworker showed up with PP's other 2 siblings and they all had their visit. I wanted PP to see her older brother because they wouldn't get to see each other again after that visit...otherwise I might have made up some excuse of having to leave to get Little Squirt or something. As soon as everything was done, I rushed home, and put PP straight into the bath. Being around chain smokers really isn't my idea of fun, sorry! The part that sucks about the smoking thing too is that PP's mom had made her a really cute doll and got some blankets for her, but they smelled like they had two inches of tar on them. GROSS!! I have washed and washed and frebrezzed and washed those items trying to get the smell out of them...it may have finally worked, but if not, I will just toss them. No hard feelings, but seriously, gross!!

Oh, and the BEST PART about all of this IS....that there was a loop hole or something that allowed PP's moms' husband to sign off as the "birthfather" (even though he refused to do the paternity tests to prove it or not, even after the court ordered him)...I guess the time line and everything was such that by default he could sign off as the birthfather. So what this means is that we don't have to wait for months on end to finalize..we will probably be able to finalize the adoption in March!! Wouldn't that just be wonderful?! Once we finalize, then we will set a time and date for the sealing. How exciting.

I must admit though, I am quite interested to see how our future pans out. As it is right now, LS and PP will be in different grades even though they are only 3.5 months apart. How crazy!! They will be in preschool together, sunbeams together, and every other thing together, but not in the same grade at school. CRAZY!! Seriously it is just crazy! The idea of having "twins" forever is something that is still a new idea to me. Hopefully everything will go ok and things will work out for the best, which I am sure they will! So, right now I am working on designing PP's adoption announcement and we will also be having an "adoption shower" sometime as well. I guess that will come after the finalization or something. I am not the one throwing it, but I suppose I will probably help plan it, because that is what I do..I plan things. haha

Other than that, there really isn't anything super exciting taking place that i can think of. If something happens, i will let you know!

:o)
